Infidelity: The Statistics

I’ll be doing a piece on this soon but wanted to share some facts with you all first on this subject. The data is pulled from several sources (they appear to match closely) and is from this year (2014).

• 90% of Americans believe it is unacceptable

• 57% of men admit to having been unfaithful in relationships they have had

• 54% of women admit to having been unfaithful in relationships they have had

• 14% of married women admit infidelity

• 74% of men admit they would have an affair if they knew they would never get caught

• 68% of women admit they would have an affair if they knew they would never get caught

• Average length of an affair is 2 years

• 31% of marriages survived after an affair was discovered or admitted

• 30-40% of Americans have committed infidelity

      • I had an amazing conversation with a therapist yesterday about infidelity. Did you know that there is a site aimed at married people who want an affair? Apparently membership is booming.

      • It speaks volumes about what the internet had done to all our relationships no matter if they are friends or partners. Keep an eye on my blog I have a huge post coming with all sorts of other facts and figures about this. It also looks at our beliefs or political alligance and what they mean for our likelyhood to cheat.
